I took a MENTAL HEALTH DAY!
Boy, did I ever need one. I haven't called in sick in over a year either. With the snow/sleet/freezing rain going on today, I just "couldn't" make it to work today.
Now I'm relieving a little holiday stress by finishing my Christmas shopping online (hopefully), wrapping gifts, etc.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but calling in to work is sooooo delightful!

BRATTLEBORO — The first same-sex couple in the United States
to receive many of the legal rights of marriage are in the
process of dissolving their historic civil union in Vermont.

Comments:

So sad.

Gee, the one punched a hole in the wall during an argument.

One must wonder which one of them pretended to male and which
female. With it a well documented fact that homosexuals are
the most promiscuous group in the world how could one not be
surprised when two homosexuals stay together "faithful" to
each other.

And they said it wouldn't last. . .

APPLE'S iPhoto Photo customer service... S**KS... |

I've called the main number... they give me another number... which in return, they tell me "we are sorry, we can't help you you'll have to e-mail them"...

I just want to find out why the heck my first order hasn't shipped but the second order has... And I keep getting a reply "we are still processing your order"... I'm about ready to contact my CC company and tell them to NOT ACCEPT the carges...

I placed my order early enough so I would get these books on time... now, I'm going to get screwed... This is the first time that I will say that "apple sucks"... I've been an apple/mac guy since 1993 and this is really the fist time that I can't get an answer...

Anyone have any other advice on how to talk to someone at apple?
RIP - Senator Bill Proxmire |

Another retired maverick senator from Wisconsin has died.

Bill Proxmire was an amazing study in politics. A budget hawk from a party that didn't want him to be, Prox brought humor, but more importantly - attention - to porkbarrel government waste. He didn't care which side of the aisle it came from, and he didn't even care if his constituents were benefitting from it. He just hated government waste. His famous annual "Golden Fleece Awards" were anticipated by the public, and dreaded by politicians.

The thing that may be the most amazing part of his tenure, was that he never spent more that $1000.00 on his re-election campaigns. In fact, he would return campaign donations that were sent to him. His re-election efforts consisted of going to places like Summerfest, State Fair or the EAA Fly-In and simply shaking hands and talking to people.
Please assist with MS Access' MESHUGGE permissions crud |

A database contains bunches of information. Permissions are set up so different users can do different things with this information.

MS Access creates two files: the database file and the permissions file.

Here at work, there are several ongoing projects, each with their own databases and permissions files.

If a person wants to switch to another database, they first have to go through this goofy process where they switch to the associated permissions file. Otherwise, the database won't let them in.

Is there a way to automatically have Access open the appropriate permissions file when switching databases? Or is this just a crummy way of doing things?

(There's a lovely way to do this when using Excel to extract data from an Access database, but the trick doesn't work when opening the database itself.)
Pick a forum - stop posting same topics everywhere! |

Double posting delutes both sites.

This evolution seems to be an inherent one to online communities. It happened in my car club, it happened in my old school BMX online community and it is happening here now. Hopefully it makes the "community" a stonger place in the long run.

I am sure I, like many of you who are here, am still also checking in at the DM forum. While I, in general, am not happy with some of the changes and philophies of the DM site, I am not a member of the DealMac forum elite insider clique that is so enraged that they are on a "mission".

That said. I am here and there for now. I hope the dust settles so I can pick a bandwagon to completely jump on. I think I know which has the edge right now. DM is a great place and has saved me thousands of $$ over the years. Perhaps the change is bigger than just the rules and regs and forum changes. It will still be my primary point for all things mac deals.

While I was an advocate for a place to discuss more interesting topics, for me, the DM Spirited section quickly became a fairly one sided place and not the two sided "two sides of an arguement" discussion place I had hoped for. As left as the AS padded room got, the DM spirted section got just as one sided very quickly, IMO. It brought out the dark politcal underside of many of my favorite contributors in a way I wish I had not seen. I loved the opinions and content DM used to provide - now I find myself attaching judgement or dismissing things becuase of other comments or positions I have seen by certain contributors.

While some of you/us are still reading both forums, I ask that you do not double post your topics, deals and discussions. Pick one place for now. I think this will help resolve unanswered questions and will surely define the content leader in the short term.

With this, I will continue to read both DM & MR forums, but intend to post only to the MR forum until I make my own personal decision where I will be hanging out.

The goal is to create the best place - not to punish the other guy. Keep that in perspective.
