Find me the song please - voodoopenguin - 08-26-2010 Well known from many years ago and it had the word "nonchalant" in it, might even have had something rhyming with it. Easy eh? Paul Re: Find me the song please - Seacrest - 08-26-2010 genre? band or solo? male or female? Re: Find me the song please - rgG - 08-26-2010 "You're So Vain" by Carley Simon Got it without Google, too. ![]() Edit: Nope. I thought it was, but after looking at the lyrics, it wasn't. ![]() Re: Find me the song please - voodoopenguin - 08-26-2010 Should have made it plainer, I don't know the song but a conversation chez penguin a few minutes ago had the word "nonchalant" crop up and some of us vaguely remembered that there was a song maybe 30 years ago that used the word and it was considered unusual at the time especially as, if we remember correctly, they got something to rhyme with it. Slightly annoying that we cannot name the song. Then again we are all getting older and it might not be a song, or the word or anything remotely like it! Paul Re: Find me the song please - rgG - 08-26-2010 I was thinking "gavotte" was nonchalant, which they rhymed with "yacht". IMHO, gavotte is even more unusual to hear in a song than nonchalant. Lyrics to You're so Vain: You walked into the party Like you were walking onto a yacht Your hat strategically dipped below one eye Your scarf it was apricot You had one eye in the mirror As you watched yourself gavotte And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner They'd be your partner, and You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? You had me several years ago When I was still quite naive Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair And that you would never leave But you gave away the things you loved And one of them was me I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee Clouds in my coffee, and You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee Clouds in my coffee, and You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga And your horse naturally won Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia To see the total eclipse of the sun Well, you're where you should be all the time And when you're not, you're with Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend Wife of a close friend, and You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? Don't you? You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain You probably think this song is about you You're so vain (so vain) I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? Don't you? Re: Find me the song please - voodoopenguin - 08-26-2010 Dammit Rhonda, I even thought that but couldn't place the verse so looked up the lyrics and searched the page for nonchalant and it didn't come up so I thought I was mistaken. Gone back to the lyrics page and it's still not there, must have the wrong lyrics! I'll try another page. Paul Just seen your second post, back to square one. You're right though about gavotte. This could go on forever, just seen your third post! We can't keep meeting like this. Re: Find me the song please - rgG - 08-26-2010 voodoopenguin wrote: Nope, you are right, I was wrong. See my other post that must have crossed with yours. Re: Find me the song please - haikuman - 08-26-2010 Well if it is from 30 years ago blooooz *(:>* should know.... "I was so much older then I am younger than that now" .........huge smile *(:>* Re: Find me the song please - voodoopenguin - 08-26-2010 Bingo - found it. Over here it was a hit for The Searchers, "When you walk in the room" I close my eyes for a second and pretend Its me you want Meanwhile I try to act so nonchalant I see a summer night with a magic moon Everytime that you walk in the room I can sleep easy tonight. Paul Re: Find me the song please - $tevie - 08-26-2010 Doesn't trying to remember something like that make you nuts? How did we ever live before the internet??? |
