Ari Fleischer. A person who has been opposed to Planned Parenthood for a long time, and who was instrumental in helping make abortion the divisive, partisan wedge issue that the GOP could use to help it win elections. And she hires this person to help her "deal with" the "Planned Parenthood issue?" What message does that send to women?
What do Ari Fleischer and Karen Handel have to do with the fight against breast cancer? Pretty much nothing. But they have everything to do with GOP social conservative politics.
If that's what Komen wants to be about, I think it just lost at least 70% of its supporters.

I know what you mean hal, I'm sure a lot of people feel that way at this point.
But I found this latest revelation to be really disappointing. I'd hoped that the hiring of Tea Party Queen Karen Handler was an aberration. Apparently it was quite intentional.

Despite the wads of money they have to call on, one the hopeful aspects of secretive right wing attempts to manipulate

And Komen now admits, though not publicly, that Karen Handel was the driving force behind the decision to defund Planned Parenthood, and that she made abortion an issue inside Komen when before it had not been.
I don't see how she keeps her job, if her employer wants to recover from this.

Handel barely lost the Republican primary here in the Georgia governor's race two years ago. I'm betting Komen wishes she had won now and she would have just been our problem.
