Those bottles are huge, it takes 20 to 30 big bottles of Tide to equal the price of an iPad. That is a whole shopping cart full of Tide. It isn't exactly easy to run out the door with that, or load it into anything. I'm amazed they can steal enough of something that large to get anything worth while out of it.

And the bright orange color of the containers make it easy to notice too.
I also wonder if there is some other chemical use for them. Just using it for laundry takes a lot of time to use one container. I can't imagine that the demand for "hot tide" is there for the quantity that is being stolen.
Or maybe there's some executive who's bonus is tied to selling a certain quantity of Tide, and he employed "independent contractors" to help him meet his quotas.

Not many other items in a typical drug store that is more expensive than Tide and not locked up or behind a counter. OTC cold ot allergy medicine? That's a bit harder to sell than something universal like soap. Gel insoles? Those are about $10. Giant pkg of diapers maybe? The baby formula is locked up.
If you've seen the typical CVS or Walgreens in a suburban strip mall shopping center at 6am in the morning you know why they get hit. One woman behind the counter and a couple of sleepy teenagers pushing boxes in the back in the entire empty store.
The automatic opening door sensor at the entrance/exit is also very convenient when your cart is full of Tide

I've heard they sell the Tide to then buy drugs. It's the latest form of money laundering.
