Physical Today, And I'm Sooo Glad It's Only Once A Year - Rick-o - 06-24-2014

"Pee in this cup"

"Take off your shirt so we can hook you up for an EKG"

"Drop your pants, turn your head to the side and cough"

"Bend over the examining table and relax your ass" (paraphrasing)

"Take your shoes off so we can look at your feet"

"Stick out your tongue and say ahh"

"Are you still refusing a colonoscopy? Ok, then" (I've had them before, but am afraid of them after hearing the horror stories about botched procedures)

Etc. , Etc. , Etc.

I'll say it again. I'm sooo glad it's only once per year.

I rarely drink anymore, but today I might knock back a few cold ones to recover from the ordeal.

On the plus side, I have a really great Doc. After my previous Doc retired, I wasn't sure how this new guy would work out (He's 12 years younger than me, fercryinoutloud). So far, he's been top notch with handling my health concerns.

So here's to you, Doc! Smile-D

I refer to the prostate exam as "Playing Hand Puppet" ... "Squawk !"

I would strongly urge you to reconsider the colonoscopy. I know it is unpleasant but it saved my uncles life. They discovered cancer that would have otherwise continued to grow and eventually kill him. The procedure itself is not difficult only the prep is difficult.

:agree::agree::agree::agree::agree::agree::agree:

Schedule it in the morning, then you don't have to suffer quite so much and can go out for a nice lunch afterward.

My Dad lived 20+ additional years because he attended to his health by visiting doctors regularly and following their advice. I'd be dead if I did not push for more testing, prodding and such BEYOND what the doctors wanted. I can't advise a grown adult on how they should live. I live and let live... or die.

Agreeing with the advice above. I might have to have one this year (I'm only 45) due to my 95 year old grandmother's recent colon cancer diagnosis. Hers was found via colonoscopy and thankfully, we had a great team of Drs who were willing to treat and perform surgery on an otherwise very healthy woman.

Imagine having a female physician tell you this! But, she's a great doc and I'm used to her now. Also, I figure women have been being poked and prodded by men for a years and years...

Also agreeing. I've had one every 5 years - because of a family history. The prep is awful, but the procedure is nothing.

We think we have it bad - I know a woman who has a colonoscopy every 6 months because of her family history.
