Nice! My dad restored a1932 Model A coupe (I think that's what it was). I once asked him how he learned so much about auto repair and he said that if you started out working on cars like the Model A's that were so mechanically simple, it wasn't hard to learn the basics. IIRC, his car had a gravity fed gas tank sitting over the engine and had plenty of space to work in between the block and the front wheels. It had wooden floorboards. I'm not sure what kind of brakes it had. It was fun to ride in the rumble seat!

All Fords had mechanical brakes until 1939, I believe. My '30 Model A roadster Deluxe had mech. brakes, no side windows, and got 20 mpg. Sold it 2 years ago.

Somewhat related, one day YouTube suggested this (one hour long) video about the Ford V8 for the Model B and the end of the Model A line.

Neat - thanks for the link - I haven't heard of this video before.
On a related note - the 20-millionth Ford featured in the beginning of the video is still about and in very good condition. It sat in a garage in the Michigan Upper Peninsula until 2000 - Ford Motor Company paid to have it restored in time for the Company's 100th anniversary (short article here)

i also love old cars and old pickup trucks.
but living in the northeast and in a co-op apartment building means my interest is more lust than ratcheting bolts or cleaning greasy hands. sigh.
