90 years ago today... - SDGuy - 10-20-2017 ![]() Still makes for ![]() Re: 90 years ago today... - vision63 - 10-20-2017 Wow. Take a ride through the countryside! Re: 90 years ago today... - Numo - 10-20-2017 Nice! My dad restored a1932 Model A coupe (I think that's what it was). I once asked him how he learned so much about auto repair and he said that if you started out working on cars like the Model A's that were so mechanically simple, it wasn't hard to learn the basics. IIRC, his car had a gravity fed gas tank sitting over the engine and had plenty of space to work in between the block and the front wheels. It had wooden floorboards. I'm not sure what kind of brakes it had. It was fun to ride in the rumble seat! Re: 90 years ago today... - modelamac - 10-20-2017 All Fords had mechanical brakes until 1939, I believe. My '30 Model A roadster Deluxe had mech. brakes, no side windows, and got 20 mpg. Sold it 2 years ago. Re: 90 years ago today... - GGD - 10-20-2017 Somewhat related, one day YouTube suggested this (one hour long) video about the Ford V8 for the Model B and the end of the Model A line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RB3z1er9Sw It was truly a Bet the Company project. Re: 90 years ago today... - robfilms - 10-20-2017 i also love old cars and old pickup trucks. but living in the northeast and in a co-op apartment building means my interest is more lust than ratcheting bolts or cleaning greasy hands. sigh. but one day...! be well. rob |
