Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - btfc - 05-08-2019 ' A Democratic Pennsylvania state representative remains defiant amid criticism for videos he posted of himself confronting anti-abortion activists who were protesting outside a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood. In response to the videos, the chairman of the Pennsylvania Republican Party called on Brian Sims to apologize and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called him a "hateful, angry" Democrat. But Sims has dug his heels in further and answered his critics with a tweet declaring, "Bring it, Bible Bullies!" Those girls seemed awfully tame. I've seen raging harassment at local clinics - this guy doesn't seem to know the difference. Looks like he came looking for a fight. Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - deckeda - 05-08-2019 It's not everyday you see random liberals making a stink about their legal and moral rights. I liked this snippet from the triggered commentator: "It's about taking a stand against anyone who tries to intimidate those who ..." Oh yeah, that intimidation stuff is, uh, really something isn't it? Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - deckeda - 05-08-2019 hal wrote: Probably yeah. The question becomes, how do you treat people outside a clinic who appear peaceful while their presence nevertheless draws attention to themselves for a purpose that goes far against anything resembling support of the clinic's mission? Do you ignore them simply because they're relatively quiet, or acknowledge them directly and engage them? Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - Lemon Drop - 05-08-2019 He's apologized, but his apology is lame. I'm pro choice but this guy was being an as$hole. Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - Speedy - 05-08-2019 I’m fine with the state rep. You are way off here. The right to speak your mind and protest that which you believe to be wrong is a very basic American right. These girls have a right to frikken sit on the sidewalk and pray in silence while not bothering anyone - how can you even think otherwise? Have you even seen a real anti-abortion harassment campaign? What these girls did was perfectly proper. That's the way it SHOULD be done. Hell, if I was there, I'd thank them for doing their protest in such a respectful manner. Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - Lemon Drop - 05-08-2019 The ironic thing is this guy's a state rep, he's actually in a position to do something real in support of women's reproductive rights. But that's hard work and it takes a long time and rarely gets you a viral video. So he does this instead... Re: Harassing the anti-abortion harassers - samintx - 05-08-2019 The thoughts that abortion has a good chance of being overturned is so horrifying. The administration is trying to rope votes. He would be for eating stewed crap if it would get him a vote. |
