Never hurts to stock up on essentials while supplies are good - pRICE cUBE - 02-26-2020 Forum friends, I am not seeking to cause alarm or panic in light of all the Corona Virus news. I just want to pass on a practical thought that could be useful. It never hurts to have supplies while supplies are easily had. I am not advocating becoming a doomsday prepper or anything close to that level. The video from affected parts of Asia, particularly cities shows how dependent city dwellers are to modern supply chains. Even if a store is open and employees show up, this supply may be low. Even if an item is manufactured in the USA, an ingredient or three could be foreign supplied. Be well we everyone. I hope for the best in all of this. Re: Never hurts to stock up on essentials while supplies are good - space-time - 02-26-2020 my family in Romania just told me they cannot find basic staple items such as flour, beans, rice, etc. everyone is in panic mode and stores sell out first thing in the morning. Rumors are there are a few corona virus cases but the government denies that. EDIT: also all canned items are sold out. basically anything not perishable is sold out. Re: Never hurts to stock up on essentials while supplies are good - NewtonMP2100 - 02-26-2020 ......no worries....a lot of canned goods.......nice set of cans..... Re: Never hurts to stock up on essentials while supplies are good - pdq - 02-26-2020 My BIL (a carpenter/woodworker) suggested picking up a few 3M N95 masks - the ones with a breathe-out one-way vent on the front are more comfortable, since they let moisture escape. Okay, so Home Depot? Sold out at every location within 100 miles. Amazon? Currently unavailable. Looks like you can still get the cheaper ones without the vent...for now. Between the deep freeze and pantry, food could last several months, albeit, probably a pretty boring menu at the end of that time frame. Also really close to the lake, with tons of fish to catch, plus the woods out back are full of critters to harvest if needed. I 'aint shook.
