So what happens when the ipod vending machine gets stuck? - pRON aHOLIC - 12-29-2006

Seems like they are selling well. What happens though when your ipod gets stuck? Bang on the machine? Try to tip it and an alarm goes off? Try to reach your arm up into the machine? I can stand losing a dollar on a snack but $ for an ipod is a whole other type of rage.

We've done about $55,000 in a month in gross sales just for the one on Concourse A," said Leopold, executive vice-president and owner Business Traveler Services. "This is becoming the future for some high-end products in places like airports where space is at a premium."

Bang on it. Bang on it again. Shake it then bang on it. Keep banging on it violently until security bangs on you.

Yell at it in Arabic sounding gibberish. Throw in an infidel or two.

That's sure to get you some attention >Big Grin<

The only one I've seen seemed to be a rather good quality machine compared to some snack machines.

My little experience with snack machines has been to see items get stuck by the wrapper.
(that and a worn out POS machine.)

Personnaly I prefer to buy electronic items where I can return it, especially when there's a color choice. Machine banter doesn't work for me. :-)

I love iPods but why does it make sense for a traveler to buy an iPod when they don't have direct access to music?

Maybe they are also traveling with their laptop.....maybe.

By the way MacArtist, there's a fire sale going on at Jordan Creek. Not a lot of stuff, but a couple of interesting things for iPods.

Thanks, Jim.

I'm guessing that the typical purchaser is not one who thinks "Gee, I could really go for an iPod right about now! Ah, look! An iPod Vend-o! I'm saved!"

But that's just a guess.

[quote RAMd®d]I'm guessing that the typical purchaser is not one who thinks "Gee, I could really go for an iPod right about now! Ah, look! An iPod Vend-o! I'm saved!" Actually, I had almost exactly those thoughts the first time I saw an iPod vending machine, but a little voice in my head said "Idiot! They don't have any music on them yet!".

Perhaps the market is ripe for iPods in vending machines with a few songs already installed? Maybe a "Classic Rock" version, a "Cool Jazz" version, and a few others to start with?
