2nd dude is trying to talk the ladies out of buying a Mac - vision63 - 10-15-2024

Palo Alto - 1994. They don't say what store, but I'm thinking it's the Fry's there.

The first guys are astounded at the cost of the Mac and it's accessories that they want to buy. The salesguy is basically being all "Hey, you gotta pay to play. But it comes with a mouse and keyboard." Confusedmiley-laughing001:

Next:

The ladies believe that the Mac is best for kids. The salesguy tells them that the Mac may not have a certain software available. That kids adapt instantly to the PC even though they use Macs in their schools.

This is what Mac users had to put up with. Basically, haters. But everything is high as hell.

Wasn't that hate part of the fun?

With a PC you didn't get to play with DA/font mover or misuse and abuse ResEdit and have a shot at totally borking your OS.

I loved Apple's then free tech support. Call 800 number, talk to an American with skills. They sent me 7.1 (?) on Floppy for free once.

I still do that, for free.

Well, the skills part can be hit or miss.

I found myself at a stoplight that I don't often need to stop at and realized that just across the pavement is a futon store that was once the mighty CompUSA. I'd go to that building at least once a week - often several times a week.

Another recent musing was a slight urge to 'go to Fry's' - as I used to do and just peruse the aisles and look for neat stuff.

I don't miss those days, but sometimes, I kinda do...

Ain't that something? I miss my favorite CompUSA too. Fry's and other great places. It was the experience that was fun. I remember having to wait in that long line at Fry's especially during the holidays. The magazine section was robust and just tons of software to buy and try. Towards it latter days, I remember CompUSA had one of their big TV's running "Finding Nemo." I stood there for the entire time and watched it. Enjoyed it. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I did the same thing (while sitting down) at the nearby Circuit City and watched "Toy Story 2" which I really enjoyed.

Look how excited people are for freakin' Windows 98. I love that!!! https://youtu.be/eKYj6E-L01g?list=PL5NINU6hxO7uR_te59gaWb_ZueTF24E4z

Sunny Came Home by Shawn Colvin playing in the background at the end of it.

I occasionally do that at my local micro center.
