Freakshow

Trump puts new limits on Elon Musk

Elon doesn't know it, but he jumped the shark. I don't believe he'll ever really recover from this.

Trump stressed that he wants to keep good people in government and not to eject capable federal workers en masse.

:RollingEyesSmiley5:

But his administration has in recent weeks fired tens of thousands of federal workers across numerous agencies in a series of blanket terminations. A federal judge and the chair of a federal civil service board have both concluded that the terminations were not tied to performance issues - and may have violated civil service laws.

Earlier on, at least, they were claiming performance issues for fired employees, but there is no way a dozen college dropout tech nerds could have done any sort of performance review at the pace of these firings.

And "may have" in the last quoted sentence above is unnecessary and misleading here. It almost certainly did violate civil service laws. The GOP doesn't seem to care Trump is violating laws. Trump couldn't care less. SCOTUS said he is free to. Will any judge hold them responsible?

“As the Secretaries learn about, and understand, the people working for the various Departments, they can be very precise as to who will remain, and who will go,” he wrote. “We say the ‘scalpel’ rather than the ‘hatchet.’ The combination of them, Elon, DOGE, and other great people will be able to do things at a historic level.”

What hatchet, Musk pretty clearly viewed it as a chainsaw.

But all of this might just be his way of reminding Musk that the $250 Million before the election was only a deposit, and regular payments are needed to keep him around.

And this is one case where I view Trump as being smarter than Musk, and I still view Trump as a Fucking Moron™

Trump knows how to crime. Musk just thinks he's impervious to any kind of restraint or consequence cuz he's so rich.

One day, they'll probably be adversaries.

Trump comes back and said that "they" would be watching the agency heads and if they didn't do the cutting, Elon would. It's all a shell game.

I think at some level, that day is already here.

Not arch-enemies, but CFDT has to be ticked off that President Musk is garnering so much attention and making a lot of decisions that he very likely didn't run by him.

So we have this To Be Clear I really think I'm in charge meeting.

Is there no place at the table for President Musk?

I usually see him standing in CFDT's presence.

And what's with wearing a ball cap and not a suit?
