Testig a Logitech MX1000 - ka jowct - 06-13-2007
Inspired by GeneL's tale of woe:
We've had one of these meese sitting around here for ages, given to the SO by a friend. I decided to crack the package and give it a try.
It took quite a while to charge, but seems to be behaving now that it is fully charged. I'm not sure I like it, but I've seen no unintended double clicks so far.
It's hooked up to a freebie B&W, OS 10.4.9.

Hmm. Hopefully you'll like it.
I've had mine since before I got my G5 and I like it, the only problem is it doesn't have enough buttons.

I love mine (Gene's uncharacteristic issues notwithstanding). It's a great mouse--though I could do with fewer buttons.

I currently have:
Forward: Dashboard
Middle: Windows Spread
Back: Backspace
Down on scroll: All windows off
I want to add(In a perfect world):
Escape
Enter
Another one(FOr when Leopard spaces come).

I like the layout of my Contour mouse much better, and also find it more comfortable and natural to use.
I would prefer three top buttons on the Logitech. I need to be able to assign click-lock and double-click to two buttons to reduce stress on my hand and arm. I currently have the right button set up to click-lock, and the little scrollling wheel/button as a double-click, but it's awkward compared to my Contour mouse. Even chording (which I've used with Kensington mice that don't have three buttons) seems a bit better than clicking on the scroll wheel.

I have to repeat that I was very happy with the MX 1000 for several years. I only would give it up if there is absolutely no fix for the double click problem I attribute to it.
There is the possibility that it became defective over time.

Another happy MX-1000 owner here. Had an MX-700 before that that I also liked a lot. Best mouse since my Kensington thinking mouse back in the pre-OS-X days.
Battery life is great and I love the thumb buttons (FWD & REV for browsing).
My only concern is if the integral battery will out live the mouse.

Love my MX1000. Just the right amount of buttons. No issues. Battery life is great for me!
