I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - threeprong - 03-05-2006 I've got to build up two graphic design workstations for some interns and thought i would roll the dice as to whether or not they will pass my personal test of expected performance in a professional graphic design studio, and just purchase a couple. I'm a little worried about this purchase. Any graphic pro's using this thing? I know an update is coming up on Tuesday - 2407FPW or whatever - but any added HD capability is not something I'll be needing. Thanks for any comments. 3P Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - mikebw - 03-05-2006 I would't worry about the screens, just check them out for any dead pixels when you set them up, I hear Dell has a good replacement policy on that. Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - stoney70005 - 03-05-2006 I read elsewhere on this forum about new Dell flat panel models coming, annoucement March 12. Did I dream this? Better contrast ratios, otherwise the same. Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - jdc - 03-05-2006 i love mine -- color isnt as nice as my old Sony FW 900 24" CRT -- but thats another story not sure how anyone can expect any monitor to match what they see printed? give or take 5% might be OK -- but we are talking RGB to CMYK? right? if color was that mission critical to me i would only use color from the pantone process book or make sure my screens were calibrated or make sure my printers digital proofs match what they print. i run a 2405/2001FP setup on my machine in the studio ( with another machine running a 2005FP) and run a dual 2001FP setup at hoime office the 2405s color is the best of all of them -- but the 2001 i have at home that i manually calibrated is very very close Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - hal - 03-06-2006 I have an apple 23" next to a dell 20" - very, very slight difference. Apple is a little warmer and the dell is much brighter (too bright at it's brightest). Don't worry - it'll be fine, well worth the savings and extra warranty - no contest really... Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - mattkime - 03-06-2006 the brightness on the dell can be corrected by reducing the "RGB" values. Re: I just purchased 2 of those 24" Dell 2405FPW's... - d0e - 03-06-2006 becarefull it takes a while to get from one screen to the other , i love my dual 2405's.
