I'm with wurm when I say, "Holy crap."
Just goes to show that life happens, while you're making other plans...
Minty was a great character. He and I exchanged a few emails over the years. I utterly disagreed with his politics, yet I always got the impression that he was a very decent guy, and I respected him as a person. We did share a love of the redheads, that's for sure.
I was one of the ones who sounded an alarm bell when, not too long ago, he had gone "missing" for a time... here: http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/336043 and update thread here: http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/336317/336317#msg-336317 I never felt a shred of animosity coming from him, because I knew that under the gruffness was someone who was really trying hard to make people happy and get along in the world.

My Mint reflection is when he go out of the hospital and we all posted a welcome back. I posted a picture of Comiskey Park. He really enjoyed razzing me over that. Mint was an open book in that it was okay to yank his chain. He could take it as well as dish it.
I too, would like to read his obit.
And when he gets to heaven,
To St. Peter he will tell,
"Another CUB fan reporting, Sir,
I've served my time in Hell!"
