I don't know about elsewhere, but around here refills are sold like $22.95 each.
That big $17.99 tank price sign at WalMart /Homedepot probably looks very attractive.
I haven't seen a per pound price for propane for ages.

(I 'm probably innacurate on tank prices, I used those little fat things last Summer.) (and gave up on cleaning and messing with my mosquito magnets)

The last fill up I got was at Tractor Supply and it's metered by the gallon. 4.5 gallons was $11 & some
change. That's a lot cheaper than exchange.

That's the thing that would chap my hide.

Similarly, my car's gas tank is 18gal. Give me 25, so I don't have to fill up as often.
Then buy a '72 Buick Riviera......

That's why I never do exchange. I have mine filled and only pay for the amount it takes to fill it up.
I believe 4.5 gallons cost me $11 something the other week.

Same here - I have an LP distributor a few miles from my house and they charge by the pound so you
only pay for what you get (what a concept!) Also nice because I can top the tank when I think about it
rather than trying to run it out to the end.

Sweet thing about the new Weber Genesis grill we bought is it has a built scale to weigh the tank,
hopefully no more running out in the middle of grilling.

U-haul seems to have the best price in my area for refills, but it hasn't been $11 for several years.

Thanks for the tip, I've been using propane exchange for years. The biggest issue I've had is that clearly some of the tanks are not as full as others. My most recent one was nice and heavy.

I'll look for the fine print to see what my local exchange site says.

I use the blue rhino exchange. Every place I've found locally to fill, wants $25+ to fill. An exchange is $20.

They should just raise the price.

Exactly! If they have to raise the price, so be it! Then, let the market decide. This whole "let's see if we can slip one by the dumb ass consumer" bit is getting old! Yes, I know about the cereal, ice cream, and other products that the corps. produce that are like this. Doesn't mean I have to like or accept it.

I try to boycott each and every one of them that perpetrate this scam. Too bad more people don't feel that way. If they did, this chit wouldn't have a chance to take root!
