But I like the freedom to pick any router I want and not need an extra box from the ISP. Listen, I'm the guy that never was interested in digital cable TV or pay-per-view partly (OK, mostly) because I didn't want the clutter and extra complexity of cable boxes tethered to each TV. And where and what is on the Telco's side of the wire, given the 100 meter segment limit of Ethernet. Much shorter than DSL's distance limits. I just don't understand how they could make Ethernet reliable over a long distance using what was intended to be phone wiring with an unknown numbers of splices. |
