He's good..

But the fawning, pants-wetting, Tarantino fanboys get real old.

He's GOOD.... TWO "O"s, not one.

He's more than a little over-rated.

I've enjoyed some of Tarantino's work, but much of it is a pastiche of previously done sequences. I think Soderbergh, Jarmusch, and Aronofsky show more original talent.

Soderbergh's brother used to shampoo my hair (worked as assist to my stylist...he has his own shop now, heck of a nice guy)

But back on topic....I find him entertaining, loved Pulp Fiction (even my mother loved Pulp Fiction)

I like Soderbergh movies better.

Reservoir Dogs was genius. Pulp Fiction was really good. Everything since then that I've seen has been really bad. Haven't seen Inglorious Bastards yet though.

Re: Quentin Tarantino is a true genius - Seacrest - 01-22-2011

Hitchcock, John Ford and Scorcese are masters, just to name a few.

QT is a sponge and an excellent screenwriter and formalist filmmaker.
I think he is ultimately a great remixer: he's able to take disparate cinematic influences and piece together great new films, a fact which he doesn't hide at all, but actually celebrates.

Death Proof is his only real stinker.
The rest of his ouevre is outstanding.

I think the opposite. I didn't like Reservoir Dogs but I have loved everything else. Especially the two KB. I didn't like Jackie Brown at first but the more I watched it, the more I liked it. As Seacrest mentioned, he is an excellent screenwriter. I liked Death Proof. "Was that a boat?"

I had very low expectations for Inglorious Basterds (IYAM, Tarantino had been coasting and over-indulging himself since Pulp Fiction, and Brad Pitt's accent in the trailer made me want to projectile vomit), but it's a terrific movie. Best work he's done in well over a decade.

I think he tells a great story...and Reservoir Dogs is really good. Pulp Fiction was another great story. Kill Bill was just fantastic from a story point of view---a classic Chinese Martial Arts movie made with a Hollywood cast (i.e. white people). The cultural sensitivity of the sword master piece in part 2 was very much in the Japanese tradition and masterful. Ditto the classic kung fu Si Fu training--absolutely in line with Chinese tradition. Overall, a great bit of story telling and lots of blood.

I'm a fan (can't you tell).

I am not one that enjoys his films. Yet to see one I like.

I don't share your reverance for Ford or Hitchcock. Scorsese, though...

Funny what people consider to be "mastery"...
