Re: Straightened paperclip to eject stuck MacBook disk? - deckeda - 01-25-2011 Because she wants it to stop spinning up/down I suppose. Re: Straightened paperclip to eject stuck MacBook disk? - olnacl - 01-25-2011 I'd suggest she keeps trying. Maybe hold the computer so the slot is facing the floor when booting while pressing the mouse button / eject key. Also, repeat tries with the credit card / post it notes. Does the DVD mount? I had a similar issue once and finally just waited a long time until the drive stopped trying to read the disk. Then, and only then, the eject button worked. Re: Straightened paperclip to eject stuck MacBook disk? - deckeda - 01-26-2011 The current theory is that something about the optical drive is blocking, like it's constipated. One shop mentioned they have a tool that helps open up the opening ... At this point she's tried all she can and will grab.a small screwdriver and maybe wedge it open some so that the eject mechanism can have an easier time of it. Re: Straightened paperclip to eject stuck MacBook disk? - btfc - 01-26-2011 When the superdrive died on my MBP died, there was a metal pin on the bottom that interfered with the disk being ejected. I was able to use a credit card type tool to lift up the front of the stuck disk, allowing it to eject. Credit card on left side of slot. Insert as far as you can below the disk and still hold on to the card. 2. press the boot button. 3. feel something hit the card and remove when you see the disk coming out. It might lift the disk just enough to exit the slot. As always, YMMV Re: Straightened paperclip to eject stuck MacBook disk? - crashlander - 08-20-2011 The post-it note worked great! I tried all of the other above mentioned methods, with no success (except the credit card...but that was next) . Thanks! |
