I've always wanted to go where they filmed True Grit. The John Wayne version.

The great thing about living in a lackluster, unremarkable area is that driving to any other area or flying, makes your vacations seem special.

I'd look at how well the state in question is run as well as the scenery. Life can be hell in beautiful surroundings. Look at the economic base as well.

Northern Exposure was filmed less than an hour from where I live. Spent an afternoon drinking there last year.

Taco Tuesdays at the Brick can't be beat.
I've had some really good times in Roslyn. I love that place. There's a pizza joint there that serves the best pizza that I've found west of Chicago in the 12 13 years that I've lived on the west side of the US. The Brick also has some really good music. The Farmer's Market is also pretty cool. There's a bike trail from CleElum to Roslyn that is fun too.

Georgia and banjos are always on my mind.

The flyover of Las Vegas at the beginning of CSI has ensured that I never, ever want to live anywhere that looks like that.

I wonder if Twin Peaks/North Exposure influenced in the choice that I did make.

I grew up in New England have lived in LA for a third of a century but think I'd rather be in Vermont. I say that knowing they are past the worst of this winter although next winter is around the corner.

I keep checking back to see when someone is going to pick Illinois . . . it's early still . . .

I did mention that there's good pizza in Chicago.

Some states they show on househunters look awesome, some not so much. I try and remember these are just snapshots of a tiny area, either good or bad.

"Is this heaven?"
"No, it's Iowa."

Yeah, right.
