I agree with the part about not pouring hot coffee over ice...the best way to not get a good iced coffee and that is what Starbucks does.

The method seems labor intensive, but possible.

Not crazy about bustello for hot coffee, so maybe it is better for iced.

I often use my leftover morning coffee for afternoon iced coffee, and it is very good, but I make very strong coffee.

I am curious about the sweetened condensed milk. might not need sugar. I like the idea of frozen coffee cubes for special occasion or if I think about it.

I am a fan of half and half, and rich brown turbinado sugar, darker than sugar in the raw.

I like the site.

just felt a need to clarify that though Starbucks does pour hot coffee over ice in making iced coffee, it is not the regular brewed coffee. it is a special blend of coffee (altogether different than the Pike Place roast) that is brewed at double strength to compensate for the fact that ice will dilute it further.

Which is good, because in my opinion Pike Place tastes like ass. My nightmare these days is walking into a Sbx when the bold roast is Verona - the only one i like less than PP. Then it's espresso time!

That would have been an interesting post. Smile

My teeth are sensitive due to fillings. I drink very few beverages with ice any more, to the point that I have not made it in current my fridge. I occasionally brew extra strong coffee in the drip maker and put the carafe in the fridge after it cools to room temp. That seems like less work to get chilly AM latte.

I don't like Starbucks, but I hear their is a new Clover machine or something that makes "special" coffee.

I like Batdorf and Bronson at Star Provisions and a few other coffee shops around Atlanta.

San Francisco has a few organic beans I like also.

coffee toddy makes a similar extract. the rig and filters are a bit pricey and it's not overly efficient, but way simple and tasty. be sire to run a second batch for a couple of days and mix with the first batch.

use it the same way for iced coffee. been doing it for over 25 years since the coffee princess turned me on to it.
