This is the most amazing kids' (and adults') museum I have ever been to. Period. And I've been to a lot.

And FWIW, back when the Children's museum was in Clayton, I wrote the supervisory code for the computers that ran the computer games. In the 1970's. When I was a sophomore in high school.

That was when I learned that thermal paper left in a backpack on the back of a bike on a hot day will turn nice and black, making your code completely unreadable. Dangit.

My parents were from St. Louis and as a kid (I'm now 71) from East Texas it was always a treat to go there. Things that I especially enjoyed were the zoo with its animal shows, the botanical gardens, and the museum that houses Lindbergh's trophies and memorabilia. Many years later wife and I were in the latter when we heard that Kennedy was shot. The Arch is a must but be sure to allow adequate time to visit the sub-ground museum under the arch whose theme is (or at least used to be) the opening of the west.

If they were a bit older you could take them to East St. Louis for a glimpse of what America's future will look like.

About a decade ago we did the Arch and followed it with a Paddle Boat cruise that I believe launched within walking distance of the Arch. Kids were in the same age range as your crew and they loved the ride. I've heard the boats have gotten a bit pricey but it might be something to look into.

I mean the following in the nicest possible way-- anyone posting to this thread who did not mention the City Museum does not have current or recent knowledge of St. Louis.

(Black, in St. Louis . . .)

Oh yeah-- for eats you'll want to visit Fitz's Root Beer restaurant-

You'll want to check out the Del Mar strip anyways-- there's a cool comic store and some other shops and street sculptures worth walking around for an hour or two. I'll be there in a few hours to see Elvis Costello.

Take them to Grant's Farm. It's way cool to see the Clydesdales!
