I guess I was asking more from the perspective of this particular chair; I suppose the other thing I could do is see if they'll replace it under warranty (doubt it, I think it's too old).
Staples' "warranty" on office furniture is 2 weeks, unless you bought an extended warranty.
True, but these chairs have a five-year manufacturers' warranty.

It's the same chair I have and it's a pretty good chair. I think we paid the few extra dollars for the warranty
but that's not going to do you any good. Find a local upholsterer and get recushioned.

My staples chair ($150 new, sale-priced at $79) is starting to flatten and the pan may be "sinking" a bit around the support.
A cushion may add some life, as it's functional enough otherwise.
I'm looking for something like this because after awhile, the edge of a chair starts to irritate the underside of my thighs and may contribute to cramps in my calves. This cushion looks large enough to stay put fairly well.
My next chair will have better seat padding (since I do not) and a slope at the front of the chair. My tailbone needs no particular consideration, though.
Most of the Amazon reviews of different products have the same complaints- no support or the cushion flattens out fairly quickly.
I also just ordered this lumbar support but will place it vertically against the seat back.
I have an occasionally recurring back pain near/under my shoulder blade that is sore for three or four days. This makes sitting in a computer (office) chair very uncomfortable since they all tend to have a curved back that "cradles" my back. I've found that placing a cylindrical pillow down the back offers a lot of relief. But it doesn't stay in place very well, so this largish support (20" long) may fill the bill.

If you sleep on your side or stomach, learn not to.
Are your arms supported while you compute?

I sleep on my side, usually switch once during the night, seldom on my back, and never on my stomach.
My arms are supported about 70% of the time.
