If the Intel iMac came with an OS newer than Leopard, you can clone, but the Intel Mac won't boot.

You are better off using Migration Assistant, or booting the G5 in Target mode and importing the data you want to the Intel Mac via Firewire cable.

Assuming you are running CCC from the newer Mac, CCC will not automatically copy system files from the older OS Mac to the newer OS Mac while doing a clone so booting the newer Mac is a non-issue.

I thought using CCC might make the process of comparing files between the Macs a bit easier since older dups will be weeded out in the backup process. By choosing to archive earlier versions, the possibility of lost files should be minimized. As always, YMMV.

Both iMacs will be running Leopard.

The Intel Mac will be wiped clean with a clean install of the OS.

Guess I will really need to think this thing thru.
