That non-compete crap needs to be a two- way street. If they don't want me to work in MY field for two years, then THEY can pay me for two years. I know it is not likely, but still they are not allowing you to earn your living. Perhaps approach it from a guaranteed severance package?

An excellent idea, but with the economy being so bad, good luck keeping them from laughing at you when you ask.

I think that I'm going to ask them to give me a trial period of a month before I have to sign the noncompete.
