Verizon doesn't let you use a smartphone with a non-data plan, and my bills are usually $46-- why would I want to double that if it works for me? You could always just not use Verizon. Are you trying to bring Black into the MRF Page Plus club? ![]() Re: Decent replacement for LG enV3?? - john-o - 11-30-2011 Good to know of your experiences with the enV3 Grateful, specifically in comparison to the Octane... Just so I'm clear, the VX9900 = enV3? And I know that I could get her a smart phone for not much (if any) more, but she doesn't want, or need, the data plan... And as I said, her #1 priority is that it be functionally similar enough that she isn't frustrated by a learning curve. At all, if possible... Thanks for the advice everyone! Did not know you used Verizon, but I suppose I should have if those were Verizon only models. Then again, I pay less than $46 per line, three lines, for unlimited SMS and calling on my carrier. For the time being, that even includes unlimited data (limited time promotion). As mentioned, you might want to look into something like Page Plus and then you can bring almost any Verizon phone and skip the mandated data plan. Re: Decent replacement for LG enV3?? - john-o - 11-30-2011 The Page Plus site doesn't help much. How do I know if it works where I live? Very happy with Verizon. Re: Decent replacement for LG enV3?? - Black - 11-30-2011 john-o wrote: If Verizon works where you live, Page Plus will. I have, and may do so again, since I'm out of contract-- but I don't have a need or want for a data phone at the moment. Like many of us here I already spend way too much time 'connected' and don't need to carry the internet around with me as well. So I just did some more googling, and I guess the VX9900 that I've been looking at is actually the original enV??? What my wife has now is an enV3, so I guess I should just try and find her a new one of those... Back to ebay I go! |
