Parents are saying that they suspect there was some cover-up on the part of the school surrounding the investigation of the teachers. Some of the more serious charges are from 2008 but parents are just now finding out about it. And the charges involved dozens of kids over many years. Parents obviously want to know if there own young child was involved. (these are 7 and 8 year olds)
So, the district feels that the only way to restore parent confidence, since many parents are now keeping their kids home, is to start fresh with new staff.

Well, with those facts in mind it does sound like there was a degree of conspiracy, so I withdraw my earlier comment.

I don't know if conspiracy is what to call it, but lack of transparency and communication definitely took a toll.

I think the fact that kids stopped showing up for school meant that they HAD to do something drastic. No way they could just fire ALL of the staff - the union would go nuts and would win any battles.

It's a disgusting situation and makes me sick. I was an elementary level public school teacher for 34 years. This is not representative of the people who do that work.

Any guilty parties in this affair should be castrated with a dull knife, IMO.

This would put a strain on my "Anti-Death-Penalty" stance. If that was my kid, I hope my brothers could sit on me for a few hours while I calmed down, I would go over there with a not so dull axe!

Our friends who are LAUSD teachers agreed that the district needs to be broken up to more manageable chunks.
