Gee, sorry for asking. I didn't realize I needed to be on the forums all the time in order to ask questions when I need help.

in the olden times did people hold back on unsolicited judgement? gosh, we've gotten more generous!

Why let one comment derail the thread?
I really like my Asus RT-N12 but it looks like it's been discontinued.

When I woke up to a bad router a couple of months ago, I drove to Walmart and got a Netgear N150 for something around $35-40. It hooked right in with the MacBook. I've got it at one end of the house and have no trouble getting a signal anywhere in the house including the basement as well as outside, about 80 feet away at the other end of the house. I'm perfectly happy.

the concern is the outbuilding with aluminum siding is essentially a Faraday cage. It shields radio waves.

If trying to get through the aluminum is too much to ask, I'll just give up on that idea. Some of this other stuff is kind of confusing - I'm a simple kinda gal so what is fairly easy, but still good.

Actually, I'm a woman, have been on the boards a while, do get on and read when new things come out just to get input, but don't often have a need to post.

Right now I am in dire need of a new router! I always look to this forum for "expert" opinions regarding all things Mac!

Do not fret Mam this forum is about """Tips and Deals.""" We do have some wieners, oops I mean whiners, dam I mean winners in the mix. .
I am so confused *(:>*
There is an ignore button just for such occasions

Find the best fit for your surroundings. A typical wireless router looks like a modem. The average dimensions for a house device are 6" x 4" x 2", and many have an antenna needle sticking up. Pick a style that fits well with the rest of your décor, so that your visitors will be impressed
