Re: [plumbing!] Thank you, Nibco - deckeda - 03-30-2012 The last time I did that I nearly burned a hole in the back drywall, and that was with some metal protection placed in between. This job today features exposed plywood on one side and wood fiber siding on the other, for the spigot. I'm better off avoiding if I can. But I may have to replace the valves anyway. Now I'm reading that even if you have a new rubber gasket in the valve, the valve's seat may be worn. I wouldn't have expected that, but it is brass after all. Re: [plumbing!] Thank you, Nibco - JoeH - 03-30-2012 On older valves you can often replace the seat. They make a tool for removing them so you can screw in a new seat. For other valves the seat can be recut. And yes, they make a tool for that! I fixed many a valve seat that way in my father's house in the past. |
