Also in an office pool. If I win, you'll never hear from me again. Cool

I always get into those departmental office pools.

If they win, I don't want to be the only one left doing ALL the work !!

how much money do you need to be independently wealthy? the line for most people is about $10 million - play your cards right and you'll never need to work again.

the inflating jackpot wouldn't really change things at all.

do you mean $10 million flat or winning $10 and what you have left after cash out and taxes?

at any rate, i think it depends on how one defines independently wealthy. independence for me comes at a level of safety and basic comforts without having to produce income. for my standards i think $10 is overkill.

now, if i won would i be going for independently wealthy or filthy rich! hmmm, that is a conundrum. if i win it means i spent hours filling out FAFSA for my son for nothing but hey - i can live with that.

Yes, but tickets are still being sold... so there may be DUPLICATE winners, cutting the jackpot down... which also means the sales are still driving the total cash pool UP.

How about a pot split?

(64) $10 Million winners. People should be able to squeak by on that, even after taxes.
