He's not talking about "death" but the same frequent spinning beach balls I saw on my 2009 Mini and my 2010 iMac before the SSDs. There's something f'd up in the way Virtual Memory works from late Snow Leopard on that's particularly potent when booted from a HDD. If you followed this forum you'd see we had a steady stream of people with fairly new macs starting threads about frequent spinning beachballs starting early autumn of 2011.
