Bwahaha!!!!! I drove down to VA yesterday for a class I'm taking this weekend (Fundamentals of Aircraft Building; an EAA SportAir Workshop). I beat the heavy rains that arrived in VA overnight. If a blizzard really hammers Long Island, I can stay on with my friend until its safe to drive back. Its GREAT to be retired!

NE ohio is getting the outliers. This morning's torrential rains have turned into high winds and sideways sleet. We're supposed to get only up to 6 inches of snow tonight. Meh.. no big deal.

Cute houses DP!
Thanx! We have a beautiful street here even tho our community has only a marginally better reputation than Detroit. We are pretty tight knit on this street and we work hard to keep it that way. I tell folks I live in Pontiac and they look at me like I'm nuts. Then they see our neighborhood and they say, "Wow, I never knew houses like this were in Pontiac!".

I've lived with and without, and that sentiment disappears very quickly with the first shoveling!!

The usual weather-induced hysteria from local stations, no doubt. But keep in mind that most New Yorkers are complete wimps about anything resembling normal winter conditions. If it's in the 30s, everyone whines about how dreadfully cold it is, even in sunny, windless 30-something-degree weather.

That storm just after Xmess a couple of years ago was genuinely nasty, however. I got blown off the curb and into the street by a hefty gust: footing was so bad that I couldn't stop myself. The city's wretched response made things very difficult. I think they're being careful to avoid a similar under-reaction since then.

Have you ever seen how the South handles snow? Sheesh.
Closest I came was southeastern Ohio (Athens), where winter barely existed. Hilly town, and very few people who knew what to do in snow.

50 years ago, 40" - 50" was not uncommon. I guess today's societal entitlement extends to only good winter weather.
