Ever try to get a licensed contractor to show up when you need one? If you had, you might not have to ask that question. Re: need advice regarding contractors and permits - 3d - 03-07-2013 Is the heat pump in the kitchen? The inspector is there to check out the heat pump not take a tour of your house. Re: need advice regarding contractors and permits - Acer - 03-07-2013 "Oh, THOSE wires? Imagine that, never noticed them before." I can replace all the fixtures I want without a license or a permit where I live. I would assume from Speedy's certainty that he either lives in the same city as lazy, or is somehow intimate with lazy's local laws. Re: need advice regarding contractors and permits - Speedy - 03-07-2013 You assume correctly! Black wrote: Yes. I was asking Dave. It may not be required in all jurisdictions. Re: need advice regarding contractors and permits - davemchine - 03-07-2013 The closet that houses the fan and backup heat is right next to the kitchen so there is no way the inspector is going to miss seeing the ceiling lights unless I can stop him from taking one extra step to the right. So I guess I might get lucky but it's a long shot. The ceiling sheetrock is actually torn down and there are new lights in addition to replacement lights so I'm pretty sure a permit was required. Any idea what kind of fine I could be looking at? Btw, here is the ceiling: ![]() Re: need advice regarding contractors and permits - 3d - 03-07-2013 Will the inspector fine you if he sees a pair of wire strippers on the counter? Contraband!! Why do you have wire strippers? You're not a licensed electrician. You have no business owning that tool. Are you lying to me? Confess! I doubt the inspector would care about your light fixture. You don't need a licensed electrician to change a fixture (it's 2 wires. I'm surprised you didn't do it). I wouldn't have scheduled an inspection with unfinished work, permitted or not. Good Luck |
