A friend of mine needed to have his gall bladder taken out and he asked the surgeon what it would cost and the surgeon told him. To which my friend responded that he had no insurance. So the surgeon immediately quoted a price which was literally half as much. This shows that the costs given to insurance are BS, probably with the idea that the insurance company will still overpay even after making their adjustments. It's all a huge cluster you-know-what.

Medical tourism. India or the Philippines?

Costa Rica is a lot closer and probably has better quality care.

"Well, we shall see if the Obamacare brings the Nirvana you are all anticipating."

No one said it will be Nirvana. It's a step in the right direction is all. It's because of people with your attitude we don't have universal health care, which has been proven to work. Obamacare was the best we could do otherwise.

anyone that thinks capitalism has anything to do with our healthcare system either doesn't know what capitalism is or hasn't been to the doctor.

Please explain how instead of adopting a well proven, working model of universal healthcare such as the one in France, forcing universal rapacious payments to the insurance industry is a step in the right direction....

You may be right, Max, but we need to get off high center and get some movement.

When do you expect to see this first step of yours?
Bleeding middle class to pay off insurance industry, to load them up with fattest profits ever, definitely was not it....

The status quo wasn't working either.

It was cheaper.
The insurance companies had less money to corrupt the system.
It will be that much harder to break the new, higher walls built by the political/insurance industry complex.
Of course, if Obamacare becomes a system so horrible for that everybody pushes our Congresswhores to dismantle it and start from scratch, then we may have a chance....
