Stayed at a little place called Mission Inn in Santa Clara, walking distance from the U. I would call it a very good value since we weren't there for the lodgings. Highly adequate. Delightfully sunny, except for about an hour driving through the Mt. Shasta area in a downpour. No, we drove. over 1,600 miles, 6 campus visits. Son is a new driver but he covered about 10 hours of it. Visited U of Portland and Lewis and Clark College, neither of which made good impressions. Stayed with friends in Lake Oswego. We've spent a lot of time in Portland, my Mom has a house there. I'm a fan of the Japanese and rose gardens in particular, love the public transport too. Otherwise since we live just near Seattle, Portland is kind of more of the same.
