Re: 50% off air filters @ Home Depot! - Robert M - 06-20-2013 Gene, Likely a box fan rigged with a filter can help reduce dust and other allergens but it cannot replace a real air purifier. In addition to the risks described to me by my dad - an engineer - which I reported in my previous post, the box fan method won't be as effective as a well designed, quality air purifier. Tight budget or not, if you want to clean the air in your home, you should stick with a real air purifier. Just my opinion. I have a big problem with dust in my bedroom (lots of dust producing factors, including my Precious, a Goffins cockatoo), so I desperately need something highly effective and cheap, because money is extremely tight, right now I've been experiencing more pulmonary problems than ever, lately, so my situation is pretty critical. Was the suggestion in the previous thread wrong or will this idea really work? I don't remember what filter was recommended in that thread, so I'd appreciate directions on how to make a super dust remover!!! Thanks for any tips ![]() A ghetto box fan air-filter is NOT "highly effective" but it's definitely cheap. A semi decent fan is $24 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HHJ2I2/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Tape on a $5 dust filter and you're in business. We have ours in the basement for basic air circulation. If it's a critical health problem as you're dealing with you should get a real air purifier and not bothering going ghetto style. Re: 50% off air filters @ Home Depot! - Surfrider - 06-20-2013 20 x 20 size used here, unfortunately, not on sale. Re: 50% off air filters @ Home Depot! - andypie48 - 06-20-2013 I got this deal a month ago for 50% off but while shipping was delayed they offered an additional 10%. Since it had not arrived they gave me an e Gift Card for the $20 difference and I used it on another deal on charcoal and got 80lbs which I consider was basically free just because I asked. |
