Re: Chromecast for $35 - silvarios - 07-25-2013 Here's something I poster over a year ago and a for more times since on this very forum: "Here's the pitch. "What if every TV was an Apple TV?" $35 AirPlay receiver. Any existing iOS 5 device can now send content to any HDTV/Display. Since everyone is banking on AirPlay as the killer feature, why not go all in with the technology?" Guess I should have made the pitch to Google instead. ![]() Re: Chromecast for $35 - silvarios - 07-25-2013 mikebw wrote: Why not? Too many cables running around back there, seems like it would be prone to falling out or getting broken off when I have to move something. Re: Chromecast for $35 - michaelb - 07-25-2013 Does it stream amazon prime videos? that could be worth it. Some content including prime is blocked from airplay, so if this gets around that, that could be interesting. My ATV though works pretty well and handles most everything we watch. Re: Chromecast for $35 - The UnDoug - 07-25-2013 So from my read of the article, it's only certain apps/types of content that will have the "Cast" button which allows the content to be put on the TV. So in other words, I couldn't expect to play an iOS game on my TV screen. Am I reading that correctly? Re: Chromecast for $35 - Kramerica - 07-26-2013 They just dropped the Netflix offer. Not as good of a deal anymore. |
