Re: Trendy color powder runs can render pro lenses “financially not feasable to repair” - DP - 08-19-2013 Wouldn't a simple UV filter help keep the powder out (from the front elements, at least)? I sure wouldn't be changing lenses in the middle of all that! Re: Trendy color powder runs can render pro lenses “financially not feasable to repair” - OWC Jamie - 08-19-2013 Lenses aren't exactly hermetically sealed. If a zoom lens was you wouldn't be able to zoom as the required volume of air change wouldn't allow the lens to pump ( without a expensive and extensive pneumatics system). There are too many levels/standards of weatherproofing. Pros buy pro lenses and will spend the money to have them cleaned out after extreme use. Or rent and return. :-) Re: Trendy color powder runs can render pro lenses “financially not feasable to repair” - pRICE cUBE - 08-19-2013 DP wrote: Lenses are not airtight, they will suck in some air when zooming occurs. Some are worse than others. Even "wether resistant" lenses are not airtight. |
