Dogs preferred to excrete with the body being aligned along the North-south axis under calm MF conditions. This directional behavior was abolished under Unstable MF. The best predictor of the behavioral switch was the rate of change in declination, i.e., polar orientation of the MF.
Okay... yeah, that's an interesting bit of information, but when will science tackle the really big dog pooping preference question: Why do dogs insist on pooping directly under the clothes line no matter where in the yard said clothes line is located?

Is that why the danged dogs wander all over the yard looking for just the right spot? Which spot is by no means right next to the last spot? Requiring us to scour the yard looking for all the piles? And why they can't learn to go in one corner, like more civilized critters?

The sheets give them privacy.

We must have a black hole under our property as there is no rhyme or reason as to where or direction ours poop.
