This will depend on the TV's or any intermediate circuitry. On my old TV i could not tell a difference between component and HDMI, on the new one i can, although very subtle. Both TVs >60 inch, 1080p. But the signal going through component into the receiver and then HDMI to TV looks slightly better than HDMI direct to TV. I have video processing in the reciever off except for conversion, but it may be improving the picture anyway, so i cannot say where the difference is.
