I had a room mate with it. It controlled it by keeping a regular schedule. He awoke every morning at about 5:30 and went to the gym and drank lots of coffee. By 20:00 he was done though. You couldn't move him at all. He also used Ritalin.

wife, father-in-law, mom and a drinking buddy are all diagnosed with various sleep disorders. (as was my dad, but he passed away)
when you get up tired, everything is just downhill from there.
