So, if I edit something in this pay-per-use Photoshop I can't save it to my computer? Does it go into the cloud somewhere? I'm confused.

Yes, you can save the files to your computer, or any other location you have access to.
Apologies if I was unclear. I was responding to the previous comment, which I took to mean that that the poster believed files created in CC would not open in earlier versions.

Photoshop is one of the easier apps to cancel the subscription on.
Lots of apps will continue to open PS documents when your copy of PS suddenly becomes useless.

We will be making virtual machines to run software like photoshop before we go cloud.
It'd simply not going to be in the cards. I don't need anything beyond CS3 right now.
Adobe should just innovate and give us cool new features, not trying to force payments as subscriptions.
I had this fight recently for a specialty software. They have literally provided NO support in five years, and they want more money from me. Sorry, give me software with new features, and I'll pay more for new features.

I own CS 6 but don't really use it. I prefer to use CS 5.5. That being said I feel they altered the clone tool around CS 5 in a way that I prefer the one in CS 3. I think I could do 99% of my day to day work with PS 7.

So, what if I wanted an actual copy of Photoshop with no monthly payment? Someone mentioned buying a copy off of eBay. I don't know what the latest version is?

The last version before they instituted the monthly charge was CS6, but CS5 or 4 will probably be considerably cheaper.

I believe you could get CS2 for free from Adobe as a download not too long ago.

I have downloaded it to my G5 but haven't installed it yet. Obviously I'm not a user of any of the applications, maybe using Photoshop once a year, if that. Ideal for my purposes when/if I do need it.
