Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - brofoski - 08-23-2006 If Paramount was just worried about Cruise's ticket sales, they would have made an announcement that would allow Cruise to save face. Paramount's comments were intended to be damaging to Cruise. That's why I say Cruise really must have ticked off Paramount. Crazy personal behavior is tolerated in Hollywood, but being demanding and controlling is not. I'm guessing that's the line Cruise crossed. Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - GGD - 08-23-2006 So, how long until there's a South Park episode about this? Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - MysteryGuest - 08-23-2006 In the past year or so, Cruise couch-hopped on Oprah Winfrey's talk show while proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes, criticized the use of antidepressants and claimed that postpartum depression doesn't exist. He also got into an angry exchange with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show while defending his opinions. People, seriously, what kind of list of non-infractions is this? Anyway, can you guys even read? His production company claims they were walking anyway. Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - Racer X - 08-23-2006 [quote GGD]So, how long until there's a South Park episode about this? It must be a very very special dead horse for them to beat it twice. the reason they haven't gotten in any REAL trouble is that they keep moving around with who they rip on. Except michael jackson, and then it is only a parody of what is factual and in the news. Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - incognegro - 08-23-2006 he needs to get rid of all his body thetans, then Xenu will smile on him & he'll be back in business. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_thetan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - MGS_forgot_password - 08-23-2006 Does that mean there won't be a sequel to War of the Worlds? ![]() Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - RAMd®d - 08-23-2006 Anyway, can you guys even read? His production company claims they were walking anyway. Without some documentation, it's hard to say that which came first. If Tom and company decided to walk, that *might* have ticked off Redstone. But there's still the "You can't fire me; I quit"/You can't quit; you're fired!" question. Also, Cruise was making a lot of money for Paramount, but how much was he costing them? I remember when Star Trek: The Next Generation was cancelled. The industry talk was that the weekly salaries were getting too expensive. Wipe the slate, and start with new actors and smaller salaries. But the studio never mentioned that. Maybe Paramount felt that bashing Tom would drive his price down for any future work. But you're right brofo- it was probably all about money and its control. Like the recording indusry, the movie industry would like to have ultimate control. I hope he beats the "You'll never work in this town again!" mentality. Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - ka jowct - 08-23-2006 No one proof-read the headline, apparently (nothing salacious, just a very obvious missing apostrophe). I think the last movie of his that I saw in its entirety was Risky Business (if that's the one in which he becomes a teenage pimp). The guy has the sex appeal of cat vomit. Re: Paramount dumps Cruise - OWC Jamie - 08-23-2006 [quote ka jowct] The guy has the sex appeal of cat vomit. lol, and the mouth that's constantly spewing something. I believe he pissed off the wrong person. Will come out in the wash. Pateince for the story behind the story. |
