Mine is also hi-res matte screen. Maybe that makes a difference.

AppleCare for my MBP expires in a few months. The Repair Extension program runs until the end of February 2016: http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/

Yup, got my Santa Rosa C2d MBP fixed WAY out of both warranty, and Repair Extension. Gotta know when NOT to blink when they tell you NO.

I think I'm cursed - I am on my sixth MoBo on my last two Macs; Santa Rosa C2D and 2012 MBPR...

Meanwhile, the original Intel MBP I purchased a lifetime ago still runs like a champ as our media center iTunes server.

My early 2011 17" MBP has the Hi-res matte screen and it failed 6 mos. ago. They replaced everything but the HD and screen. It was covered under the recent repair program.
