If you have an SSD, you will be fine. I run both Yosemiter and EC on a related 2009 MBP. Runs fine - but I don't use a lot of tabs when I browse, etc.

I have an SSD. I think it was upgraded to 8gigs of RAM a while back (I will check once I get back from work). Tx for the info.

It is a late 2009 2.26 C2D with 4 gigs of ram and nvidia geforce 9400M
I have an SSD in it.
