They will violate their own rules or refer to a non-relevant rule (anything to make the buyer happy). Amazon does this too. The only time eBay takes care of the seller is when an item is reported as not being delivered (as long as you used PayPal, sent it to the correct address, and have signature can noir action) but even in those cases I suspect the buyer is not out anything either. That would be easier than a month-long eBay drama that you'd likely lose, as several have noted. But I also see shifty sellers selling parts machines while dropping certain dog whistle clues... Like selling a 2011 MBP with it's known recall program - I see LOTS of clearly, VERY knowledgeable mac sellers, saying, "well... looks like the video card is out on this unit... turned it on one day and got a scrambled screen... I have no idea what's wrong, so bid accordingly." But in another one of that sellers listings brags about a 2011 MBP with a BRAND NEW MOTHERBOARD... will show the apple invoice with all of the new hardware. This person KNOWS about the recall, but will act dumb hoping to get a sucker to buy the one that is NOT covered by the recall. I've directly asked one of these guys once if they tried to take it to apple for extended warranty work and got back a reply that was SO slimy - never really answered the question - just went into retail sleaze mode... I'd never buy from that guy. |
