I will always be thankful for Issa for his efforts here, I haven't heard a peep about this from either Presidential candidate and the program is run by the Department of Justice, so....

Do you mean the legislation he steered through his committee to the House floor and then got it passed?
His bill to curb the program? Is that a problem?

Not a problem. So what progress is his bill making?

It faces almost universal police opposition, it'll never pass.

The us versus them mentality runs deep. Time for major party members on either side to take a stand for the people.

The police are people too. The cities hired them. The police do what they want them to do. Remember that. They can stop them anytime they want. Politicians do what the people want. They can stop them too. Remember that. George Carlin remarked on this eloquently. The only possible remedies lie in the ballot boxes.

always vote against stepping up police presence. Hasn't made a difference, but I'll keep voting. The politicians use the police to keep us in line. I get it. Doesn't make it right. Doesn't make it fair. Doesn't even make for the best use of the police who often do fabulous work fighting real crime.

Well, nobody has killed you yet. I doubt they're throwing you up against any walls. I doubt you're riddled with fear of the powerful police when you drive down the street. I live where you would never choose to live yet I move about with zero fear. How is that possible?

Let's ask the citizens of Baltimore their feelings. Baltimore is the biggest city where I live. I live in PG County, we often have contentious relationships with our police, but it's nothing like Baltimore.

We can't get more teachers in PG County but we are always hiring police and almost everything city has their own police force now, not just the county. I'm a WASP, I get a lot of leeway, I get it. Not everyone in my family looks like me, they don't all get the same treatment.
