I think FOX just wants him to lay low for awhile. He makes too much money for them to ditch him entirely.

Perhaps this is a test to see if ratings go up or down while he's gone. A father/son wager.

I can believe it is a test to see if his ratings are worth the bad PR. FAUX Nooz makes a lot of money just from how many people watch during the hour that O'Reilly is on even if there was no advertising revenue. I heard someone estimate that they get about $2 per subscriber from every cable company that pays to distribute the channel.

NPR said today he brings in 9 figures. I don't know if that's profit or just ad sales.
