Re: If a company wants to make you an offer and they ask how much you make now - deckeda - 04-29-2018 As a current job seeker, I can report that in the last couple of months I've run across exactly ONE job listing that published their salary range. And that was from a tiny company of 11 people. And I'm still seeing on some applications a space for either current or expected salary. In general, they do NOT want you to know what they'll pay. I've heard jobs are becoming more plentiful but it still seems like a seller's market. Re: If a company wants to make you an offer and they ask how much you make now - Will Collier - 04-30-2018 It's best to politely decline to answer that question, as most have noted above. One example, I once made the mistake of providing my salary history to a company I was applying for as a courtesy, but had no intention of actually working for (long story that isn't worth going into in detail). They wound up repaying that courtesy by using that history to lowball my rate with the subcontractor which I did go to work for. Live and learn... I learned to ignore that kind of request, and that I was correct in not wanting to work for that company in the first place.
