This is probably not rational or entirely based on fact, but there is AMEX and then there are all the other companies that have copied AMEX years ago and make the claim that they have same type of protection as AMEX. AMEX was doing this long before other cards and possibly long before the concept of a gold card VISA/MC that offered this benefit. It is just hard to trust the endless claims of CC companies that are out to screw you.

So yes, I have submitted several claims over the years on AMEX extended warranties and they have always been paid. The best example is I bought my first large screen TV at Costco now maybe 10 years ago; it was first repaired by Costco in year two based on their warranty; it failed again in year 3 and AMEX refunded the cost; I used that money to my current plasma TV, with some change, so I haven't bought a TV in a long time. They did hassle me a bit about my son's iPhone 6, but we had shipped that to Apple to repair/review, and the issue was mostly getting Apple to document that it was an out of warranty claim and not user damage, and they did refund that $ in the end.

Amex treated me right with my one and only extended warranty claim. It was an Apple product. Amex also had my back on a $3000+ online purchase that went sour. One call to Amex and the online dealer called me apologizing profusely and asking me to please give them a chance to correct it before contacting Amex again.

Amex Blue has no annual fee. Look into it.

:agree:

They replaced a failed Kindle Paperwhite for me a couple years ago, no questions asked.

i think Amex is the gold standard in this area. when my son was in high school he had two iphones stolen and both were replaced by Amex. fortunately he finally figured out how to protect his stuff better. also we had a big screen TV damaged on day 88 of it's 90 day protection. replaced without question. if i have a big ticket electronic item it is always purchased with my Amex. my other cards have similar programs but not with the exact same protections. take the time to read the fine print.
