I want Biden to say that his son never should have taken the job, that such things shouldn't be happening, that he's sorry to be involved in such a scenario and to promise that it would not happen again. And perhaps suggest that legislation be written to ban future behavior.
"look, do this for us or your son losses that high paying job" that is not a situation that a VP should be in...

You're wanting Joe to say he's sorry it looked bad, which completely equates it with being bad. Maybe he can change the past, or maybe in retrospect he can say (again) that if elected none of his family will have "any business relationship with anyone that relates to a foreign corporation or foreign country.”
Hindsight is a great luxury. Convenient also, you might agree.

Some of us have experienced nepotism including me. But this Hunter thing should never have happened in the first place. Hunter is sleazy. Joe needs to cut him loose, not defend him.
(I got a high paying union laborer summer job at age 16 because my father was the top foreman on the project.)

Most east coast trade unions were/are only open to family and friends - this was true 50 years ago, it's true today.

"Who you know" is still a time-honored way to the top of the stack, even among the working poor. Being a friend of a friend of the manager can be leveraged even at McDonalds. When it becomes a problem is when it puts someone unqualified into the position. But goldbricking is much less tolerated in the lower tiers (Amazon employees pee in bottles to make quota) than it is in the Boardroom Class.
